Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before using Myto. By creating an account or installing the extension, you agree to them.
1. Agreement to terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Myto ("Myto", "we", "us") governing your use of the Myto browser extension, the Myto web app, and usemyto.com (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, installing the extension, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. Who can use Myto
You must be at least 13 years old to use Myto. You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide when creating an account, and for keeping your login credentials secure. You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account.
3. What Myto does
Myto lets you capture highlights and screenshots from web pages, documents, and videos you read or watch, and generates AI-based quiz questions from that content to help you retain it through spaced repetition. Features, including which content types are supported, may change or expand over time.
Quiz questions and screenshot captions are generated automatically by AI models. They are intended as a learning aid, not as verified, authoritative information. AI-generated content may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or misworded, and you should use your own judgment when relying on it.
4. Trial and subscriptions
New accounts get a 30-day trial with full access to the Service, free of charge and without requiring a credit card. After the trial ends, continued full access requires an active paid subscription (billed monthly or annually at the rates shown on our pricing page, which may change with notice).
If your trial ends without an active subscription, your account moves to read-only access: you keep your existing captures and library, but can't create new captures or take new quizzes until you subscribe. We don't delete your content just because your trial or subscription lapsed.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled beforehand. You can cancel anytime; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we don't provide partial refunds for unused time except where required by law.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the highlights, annotations, screenshots, captions, and other content you create in Myto ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit Your Content, including to third-party AI providers, solely to operate and improve the Service (e.g. generating quizzes from your highlights).
Much of what you capture with Myto originates from third-party sources (articles, videos, documents) that you don't own. You're responsible for making sure your use of Myto to capture and store that material complies with the source's terms and applicable copyright law; Myto is intended for personal study and note-taking, not for republishing or redistributing captured content.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Myto to capture or store content you don't have the right to access or save.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the extension or app, except where the law explicitly allows it.
- Use automated means to scrape, abuse, or overload the Service.
- Interfere with or attempt to circumvent trial, subscription, or access-control mechanisms.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to violate anyone else's rights.
7. Third-party services
Myto relies on third-party providers to operate, including Google Firebase for authentication and analytics, Google Cloud Storage for image storage, and Google's Gemini models for AI generation. Your use of Myto is also subject to the availability and acceptable use terms of these providers.
8. Intellectual property
The Myto name, logo, extension, web app, and underlying software are owned by Myto. These Terms don't grant you any rights to our trademarks, branding, or source code beyond what's needed to use the Service as intended.
9. Termination
You can stop using Myto and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or if we discontinue the Service, in which case we'll give reasonable notice where practical.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee that Myto will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will improve your memory or learning outcomes: it's a study tool, not a guarantee of results.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Myto won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of data or content, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Myto evolves. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or with a notice in the app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.
